People in Germantown remember Corporal Jones as a quiet neighborhood kid loyal to  his friends. Corporal Jones graduated in 2000 from  Valley View High School. “He was a couple years younger than me, but every time I talked with him, he was a great kid always willing to help out,” said Bobby Johnson, a friend. He added that the last time he saw Corporal Jones he talked about enlisting in the Marine Corps.

“He was just a stand-up kid, quiet and respectful.”

Germantown is a village. Everyone knows everyone and mentioning Corporal Jones causes people to shake their heads and reflect on their sadness. “It’s a tragedy for the family,” Bobby Johnson said, speaking for many.  Corporal Jones enlisted in the Marine Corps in November 2006. He was deployed twice  to Iraq, twice to Afghanistan and served a relief deployment to Haiti.

This is a prayer written by Corporal Jones:

Lord, I ask you to watch over my men as we go into the valley of the shadow of death. I know that the enemy we face is not only an enemy of America, but an enemy of Israel as well, an enemy of you Lord, so I know we are fighting for you. If it is your will that one of us from weapons platoon should fall, please let it be me, and not one of my brothers. In your name I pray. Amen.

I remember drinking some beer, and watching Nascar with you at your house before I got out of the Corps. I believe over in Tarawa Terrace. The last time I would see you. I learned of your passing not to long ago Adam. It was an honor to serve with you in the same platoon. I think of you often with the Fallen Marines from Habbaniyah. I’ll see you soon brother.
