Sergeant Carlo F. Eugino, know by family and friends as “Kix”, is an American a hero. Eugino was regarded as an adventurer who brought strong spirits and sunshine to the lives of every person he met. He was described as a joy to be around and could make a person’s day simply by smiling.

Eugino was born in the Philippines on September 20, 1982 and grew up in California. He had a passion for the outdoors—anything from beaches to mountains. Yosemite was his second home. He found joy in riding his dirt bike and trekking trails in Mountain High Resort on the Moabi River. He was introduced to flying by his brother just before he departed for Afghanistan.

Eugino was particularly close with his parents. He lived with them until his first deployment to Iraq. His older brother, Tuv, was his best friend.

He was also close with his cousin, Allan. Together, the three were known as the “Three Amigos”. His relationship with his sisters Nor, Cyn and Leng was one of love and laughter. He was also a friend to his brother-in-laws; they often bonded over video games and music. He loved to spoil Emily, Kea, Saw saw and Chachie.

Jessica Lee was the woman of his dreams.

Eugino, a man who left memories of joy and love, would want all to celebrate his life rather than mourn his death.

In regards to his military career, he enlisted in the 1112th Quartermaster Company, California Army National Guard on April 28, 2006. In February 2008, Private First Class Specialist Eugino was awarded Military Occupational Specialty 88M10, Motor Transport Operator. On April 15, 2008 he was advanced to specialist. In July 2008, he was called for active duty in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was honorably released from active duty on August 2, 2009. On June 10, 2010 he was promoted to Sergeant. He was ordered again for active duty in support of Operation Enduring Freedom on August 5, 2011.
