Marine Lance Corporal Colin Joseph Wolfe of Manassas, Va., died in combat while conducting combat operations in Habbaniyah, Iraq. He died on on Wednesday, August 30, 2006. Colin was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.;
Colin was born in Midland, Texas, Nov. 19, 1986. His early years were spent in Dallas, Texas, and in 1991, Colin moved with his family to Manassas, Va. He was a member of Congregation Ner Shalom in Prince William County, where he was Bar Mitzvahed in Aug. 2000. Colin attended Jeannie Dean Elementary School, Grace E. Metz Middle School and graduated from Osbourn High School in 2005. Colin grew up playing baseball in GMBL, as well as many other activities.
Colin danced from the age of 2 ½ in his mother’s dance studio. He danced until he joined the Marines, participating in many of the professional productions of the Manassas Dance Company. Colin died doing what he believed in, serving his country and protecting his family. While everyone is sure that Colin tried to keep this dance skill a secret from his battle buddies, no one knows if he shared the studio’s greatest benefit: a wonderful place to meet the girls. Colin enjoyed throwing back a beer or two and the company of ladies. Colin was considering college upon completion of active duty. Prior to his entering the Marines on a a family trip to France was impressed by the military cemeteries.
Colin is survived by his parents, Mark and Amy Wolfe, and one sister, Cecile Wolfe of Manassas, Va.; paternal grandparents, of Amarillo, Texas.
