CW2 Balli is described as an outstanding leader of Soldiers. He was highly praised by his fellow Soldiers. He was a person with a kind heart and smile. He aimed to teach and encourage those with whom he served. He was a very motivated person who was dedicated to his work as an Unmanned Aerial System Operations Officer Platoon Leader, providing the eyes in the sky for troops on the ground.
It was CW2 Balli’s practice to always offer advice to the younger soldiers in his command. He assisted them with personal as well as professional goals. He inspired the soldiers with whom he served. CW2 Balli is noted for living life to the fullest.
Edward was born and raised in Salinas, CA. He enlisted in the US Army Reserves in 1990. In 1993 he married the love of his life, Kristy. Five years later he became regular Army. During his years of service he deployed 3 times to the Middle East as a soldier in the Global War on Terror, twice to Iraq and once to Afghanistan. Chief Balli was recognized for his unfaltering love and devotion to his family and country.

Edward meant the world to us and will forever be in our hearts. While serving at FOB Pasab he was always concerned for the welfare of his Soldiers. Edward would often ask his family to send certain snacks because one of guys liked it. He cared about his Soldiers and mentored many throughout his career. We will cherish all the memories Edward have left us with and will remember him as a true patriot who gave the ultimate sacrifice for his country.
