Rest easy, sleep well my brother. Know the line has held, your job is done. Rest easy, sleep well. Others have taken up where you fell, the line has held. Peace, peace, and farewell….

Lance Corporal Jeremy S. Shock, 22, a native of Green Springs, Ohio, died November 19, 2006 while serving with the Weapons Company, First Battalion, 24th Marines of Perrysburg. He was killed when the Humvee he was traveling in was struck by a roadside bomb in Fallujah, Iraq.

He was a 2002 graduate of Clyde High School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Tiffin University in 2006 where he graduated with honors. This 6-foot, 2-inch, 200-pound football player is remembered as always happy. If you were having a bad day, he would make it a good day.

His former coach remembered that Jeremy wanted to go into the Marines and remarked “I couldn’t think of a better person to serve our country. Whatever you asked him to do, you knew he would give his maximum effort and get it done.” He enlisted in the Marine Corps reserves just prior to his senior year, and in April, married his college sweetheart.

He is survived by his wife, Clara (Ramirez) Shock; his brother, Zack Shock and sister, Sara Shock both of Green Springs. Maternal grandparents, Marvin Sr. and Sharon Guhn of Bellevue and paternal grandmother, Dorothy Shock of Tiffin. Jeremy’s paternal grandfather, Robert Shock preceded him in death.

“He’s taking a lot of hearts with him.” But then he leaves a lot of great memories to keep them warm.

Jeremy’s portrait is also located on Poster 4
