Specialist White had a variety of interests and pursued them with enthusiasm and proficiency. He was one of 10 children and excelled at being a “committed loyal brother” to his nine siblings. He was a wonderful friend and son and devoted husband to Jessica.

Joe was home schooled with his siblings until he went to Bellevue Community College. After taking classes there, Joe enlisted in the United States Army. White, a 21-year-old had served with the Army since September 2006. This was his first deployment.

Even as a small child, Joe was a serious thinker. When he gave his heart to Jesus Christ, it wasn’t a casual thing. Joe was admittedly not perfect, just as none of us are, but through all the trials of his life his faith continued to grow stronger. Joseph had a very tender heart that desired to help and protect people. Joseph had a strong faith in God and believed that whatever he experienced in military service was in God’s hands.

His mother, Robyn, said: “He was an awesome son and brother and always spent special time with the family and friends when he was on leave. We totally support what he was doing,” said Robyn White. “We support the military, and think Joe’s our hero.”

I feel so privileged to have known Joseph. His heart for God was real and now he is in the arms of his Creator. The sacrifice he and his family have made are beyond my imagination but come from a grateful heart.
