Randell Olguin

RALLS, TX, USA U.S. Army SGT, C CO, 1 SQDN, 2 SCR (OPCON TO 2 BCT, 82 ABN) (TASK ORG TO 1 CD) BAGHDAD, IRAQ 09/30/2007

Army Sergeant Randell Olguin was born in Orlando, Florida. He moved to Ralls, Texas in 1990 and graduated from Ralls High School. Randell-Randy-was an outstanding athlete: he played football all four years, as well as baseball. He was also a regional-qualifier in cross country track for three years, and played basketball for a year. Randy also was in the band.

He was remembered as an incredibly driven athlete, always pushing himself harder and harder to achieve his best. While he wasn’t always the best athlete, he always worked tremendously hard to contribute to the team and succeeded in doing so.

His father never understood what drove Randy to enlist, as Randy was a rambunctious son. But Randy was driven towards the rigorous order of the service and proudly returned home after boot camp wearing his uniform. He rarely talked about anything else in high school classes-he was driven to enlist and succeed in the military.

Randy enlisted right after graduation in the United States Army. He was assigned to Germany. In Germany, he met Anna Hammer. They were married in 2005, in Ralls, TX while Randy was home on leave. He was serving his second tour of duty in Iraq.

Randy always wanted to do more, whether in high school sports and activities, or in the military. Randy was defined by passion and drive and no matter how involved he was in his activities, he always wanted to do more. His parents, siblings, and wife were always so proud of Randell, and what he had accomplished. He was an amazing individual, one that others sought to emulate; Randy was never satisfied unless he felt like he was giving it his all.
