Willsun Marcus Mock was born on December 19, 1982.

WillSun was a very loving, caring child who grew into a young man who wanted to make a difference. He enlisted in the US Army as soon as he could after 9-11. He became an integral part of every team he was with. He was dedicated to mission accomplishment and always displayed unwavering courage and commitment.

Will’s commander said Will was loved and respected by all the soldiers he served with. He was a big brother in the barracks to so many that lacked direction in life. His personal motto was ‘Strength and Honor’. He lived by those words in everything he did and with everyone he came in contact with. He did not just speak these words and have them tattooed on his arms, he lived by his motto daily.

Will made everyone feel they were his best friend. His squad leader and friend said, Sergeant Mock loved the thrill of competition. He was proficient at boxing and regularly taught the young men of our platoon in the art of pugilism.

Sergeant Mock constantly trained his body to be physically fit. You could always find him in the gym pushing out rep after rep and set after set. The joke went around the officers that he was not getting bigger muscles, he was just wearing smaller shirts.

Another friend said Sergeant Mock was proud of his ‘Kansas farm boy’ heritage. He grew to try and be something greater than himself.

Will had seen many countries and been to many places. He was a veteran of OIF II and Fallujah and was trying to learn to speak Spanish fluently. But despite his traveling the world, the core of him would always be that of a Kansas man, who loved his family and spoke of his brothers with love and respect. Who would quote his father and grandfather, and talk about advise his mother gave him. Sergeant Mock was wise in common sense and rich in family.

Will loved mankind just like Jesus Christ taught us.

Sergeant Mocks awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal(2nd award), Purple Heart(he declined the first one), Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (2nd award), Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon, NATO Ribbon (Kosovo), Combat Infantryman Badge, Presidential Unit Citation, and Valorus Unit.
