Wesley R Durbin

Sergeant Wesley Roy Durbin was born July 27, 1982 in Dallas, Texas. He was taken to his Heavenly Home on September 14, 2008 at Patrol Base Al Jurf Suhkr, Iraq. At this time, Wesley was on his 2nd tour of duty in Iraq and he was serving with the Army’s 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry, A Co – 2nd Platoon.

Wesley spent most of his life growing up in the Dallas, Texas area. Wesley was always involved in many activities and had many awards such as Cadet of the Year in the Civil Air Patrol and a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do.

In addition, Wesley was active in his church youth groups and he loved to play baseball. He graduated from Dallas Lutheran High School as an Honor Student. At graduation, Wesley was awarded scholarships to attend several colleges, but his desire was to join the Marines. Wesley graduated from Marine Boot Camp as a Private First Class in August of 2001. In May of 2004, Wesley was sent on his first tour of duty in Iraq with the 1st BN – 4th Marines B Co.

After Wesley spent 4 years with the Marines, he thought it was time for him to end his military service. But, after being out a short time, Wesley decided he really wanted a career in the military. After looking at all branches, Wesley made the decision to re-enlist in the Army.

Wesley was proud of his service both in the Marines and the Army and loved serving beside his fellow soldiers. Wesley was a loving husband, daddy, beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, friend and most importantly a Christian. His beautiful smile, quick wit, genius mind, big hugs, and love for others will continue to be missed until we all meet again in our Heavenly Home.
