Arlo Dean Rockney died June 10, 2013. He was born May 15, 1920 in Woodworth, North Dakota. Arlo is the son of Elmer Rockney (1889-1971) and Fay O’Neill (1896-1985). He is the cherished husband of Zora.

Arlo Rockney was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He flew B-17’s during World War II. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving 23 years. He became a teacher and served in the Peace Corps until retirement. He is survived by his wife and two sons, 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Loved by All!

Timeline of the life of Arlo Dean Rockney:

1939 – Student at University of Wyoming

1940 – Private, US Army stationed at Ewa, Honolulu, Hawaii, at the Base Headquarters and 17th Air Base Squadron

1943 – Survivor of B-17 “Flying Fortress” crash, December 15, 1943, as 2LT Pilot from Edgerton, Wyoming.

1945 – Further enlistment for World War II: Enlisted December 13, 1945 in Los Angeles, CA in the Air Corps as MSGT Civil occupation was tinsmith, coppersmith, and sheet metal worker.

1949 – Great Falls, Montana, U.S. Army, residing at 743 Fair Haven.

1957 – June 28 – CPT Arlo D. Rockney arrived stateside from Frankfurt, Germany. Port of Arrival: New York, NY via Slick Airways, with wife and children.

1958 – Tacoma, Washington, U.S. Air Force, residence 6417 Fairlawn Drive.

1980 – Resident of Lynnwood, Washington and active member of Edmonds Christian Church.

Our dear friend Arlo will be greatly missed. He was a loving father, husband, friend, neighbor and man of great Christian faith.
