SGT Charles C. Strong, 28, of Suffolk, VA was a critical skills operator and had served in the Marine Corps since 2003.
This tour in Afghanistan was SGT Strong’s fourth combat deployment with the Marine Corps. SGT Strong was promoted to sergeant in October 2007. Charles joined MARSOC in 2013. Taylor Strong, Charles’s wife, is expecting their baby girl in December.
After graduating from Nansemond River High School in 2003, SGT Strong enlisted in the Marine Corps.
Charles’s high school principal, Thomas McLemore, remembers SGT Strong as a hardworking, popular student. “Never gave me a bit of trouble whatsoever, just a nice young man. I think it’s a great honor, that he served our country and paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country.” SGT Strong was promoted to sergeant in October 2007. Charles joined MARSOC in 2013.
