AURORA, IL, U.S.A. U.S. MARINE CORPS LCPL, F CO,2DBN, 3DMAR,(RCT-7,I MEFFWD)3DMARDIV, KANEOHE BAY, HI 10/19/2006, AL ASAD, IRAQ

LCPL Lopez enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2004. He was a U.S. Marine sniper who was deployed to Iraq fall of 2006. He previously served a 9 month tour of duty in Afghanistan returning home in August before shipping out to Iraq.

Eddie graduated from East Aurora High School in 2003. He loved cooking and could make his own tortillas. His mother, Martha Lopez, described him as someone who watched out for neighbors. There was the time when a neighbor couldn’t get her front door locked late one night. Eddie went right over to help her. He was a fan of war movies and paintball games, an outgoing man who was dedicated to his country. Eddie loved what he did.

LCPL Lopez’s interest in the military started as a child.”He always liked guns and tanks and armies,” said his brother, Alex. “When it would snow, we always built forts and pretended like we were in a war.” He was fun to be around. “He loved making people laugh. He was very outgoing, a very outgoing person.”

Eddie’s brother added:”He was looking forward to going a lot of places they (the Marine Corps) were going to send him. He just wanted to explore what was out there, and he wanted to do what he loved best and what he was proud of.”

LCPL Lopez was born to Edwardo and Martha Lopez. He is survived by his parents, a brother, Alejandro Lopez and maternal grandparents, Zeferino and Julia Alonzo
