LCPL Davenport was born December 31, 1985 in Independence, Missouri. He spent the first few years of his life in Archie, Missouri. At the age of 5, he moved to Danville, Indiana where his family still resides. On September 13, 2006 James was sent to the Anbar Province of western Iraq to serve for a seven month tour with his fellow marines.

From kindergarten through the eighth grade James attended Kingsway Christian School in Avon, Indiana. James attended Bethesda Christian School in Brownsburg, Indiana from the ninth grade until his high school graduation on May 25, 2005. During high school, LCPL Davenport joined the United States Marine Corps on January 12, 2005. After basic training, James remained in California for additional training. He was next stationed at the Marine Corps Base in Kaneohe, HI. LCPL Davenport followed in his father’s and brother’s footsteps when he joined the Marines. LCPL Davenport’s mother, Tammie Davenport talked about her son, “He was scared, but he also said ‘Mom, I’m afraid they are going to pull us out before we get our job done’ and he added ‘we need to do our job.’ That was important to him, so he was scared, but he knew he was there for the right reason.” Tammie Davenport also says she’s grateful she spoke with her son recently. “At least he called me less than two weeks ago and the last thing he said to me was ‘I love you,’ so I have that. It’s some comfort.”

The family requested that you please continue to support our troops who are serving the country in Iraq by sending a Marine a Christmas gift.
