Sergeant James McIlvaine was killed in Iraq on April 30, 2009. James enlisted in the Marines in 2001 and was a person who truly loved his career. James was a grunt who specialized as a mortarman. He loved being a Marine, he was a natural leader and a natural at his job.

James had a sense of humor that always had everyone around him laughing, and could crack a joke in any situation to ease the tension. He was an avid Washington Capitals Hockey fan, as well as a Washington Redskins fan.

James leaves behind a wife whom he married in 2001, and 2 children. James is highly missed by his family and his friends.
