Jon E Bowman

DUBACH, LA, USA U.S. Marines LCPL, C CO, 1ST BN, 6TH MAR, (1-1 AD, I MEF FWD), 2D MAR DIV, CAMP LEJEUNE, NC AR RAMADI, IRAQ 10/09/2006

Jon E. Bowman’s friends called him Jon Eric. They remember him as an outdoorsman who worked hard and loved his family and country. He was both competitive and hard working – as a younger man Jon worked at a building supply store – picking up two sacks of deer corn to everyone else’s one.

A graduate of Summerfield High School in Dubach LA, it was his passion to serve his country. He always served and helped everybody, whether it was his friends, family, church or the Boy Scouts. But the military was his destiny.

Friends say he wasn’t much of a fisherman, but he tried. He could often be found spending countless hours boating and skiing or at baseball practice. Jon helped establish a deep mud riding four-wheeler group with friends – jokingly called Mudweisers.

Lance Corporal Jon Eric Bowman was assigned to 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. LCPL Bowman was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart.
