Army Spc. Justin Richard Blackwell, of Paris, Tennessee, was born July 18, 1980 in Germany.

Justin attended Henry County High School where he graduated in 1999. He was an active member of the soccer team and played a significant role in starting the Chess Club.

Justin grew up in a military family and joined the Army in 2000. It was his third tour in Iraq. He was married and a new father to Joshua, born on March 16. Justin also had two daughters from a previous marriage. He was known as a jokester who loved country music and pro wrestling.

Justin was assigned to the 59th Military Police Company, 759th Military Police Battalion, 89th Military Police Brigade, at Fort Carson, Colorado. He died at the age of 27 in Baghdad of wounds sustained from enemy indirect fire while serving in Iraq on August 5, 2007.

His younger brother, Nathan, received his lieutenant’s stripes the same day Justin’s body was flown home from Iraq. Another brother was also serving in the Army.

On his MySpace page, Justin had written: “I’m a simple boy from Tennessee who likes country music and playing with my kids. I love you Abby, Mackenzie and Josh. Daddy misses you all very much and I’ll be home with you guys before you know it.”
