Mark Douglas Taylor was born November 17, 1962.
Mark was a great and noble man, very committed to caring for the sick and wounded. He was also a great person. He had an easy manner and an infectious laugh. Mark was friends with everyone within a day of meeting them. He loved skiing and finding ways to make people laugh, friends said. He was very intelligent, had a great sense of humor, and was a compassionate person. There were lots of people who just loved him, and he was a very driven individual.
Mark graduated from Lincoln High School in 1980, and went on to receive his BS degree in biochemistry from the University of California at Davis. He received his Pharm D. from the University of California at San Francisco, M.D. and MPH from George Washington University of Medicine in D.C. He completed his internship in surgery at Madigan Army Medical Center at Fort Lewis Washington and went on to complete his residency in surgery at the University of California Irvine before returning to active duty with the military in 2001.
In the late 1990s, Taylor met his wife and had his son, Conner, while doing his residency at the UC Irvine Medical Center. The couple later divorced.
While in Iraq during his second tour, Mark received word he had been awarded a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery. For his service he received the combat medical badge, air assault, airborne, and German parachute wings, as well as decorations that include the Bronze Star, Army Commendation, and Army Achievement Medals, to name a few.
Mark is survived by his parents Robert D. Doug & Roberta Taylor of Stockton & his 6 yr old son Connor Taylor of Irvine.
