Michael L. Krol

DALLAS, TX, U.S.A.

DALLAS POLICE DEPARTMENT

POLICE OFFICER

07/07/2016, DALLAS, TX, U.S.A.

Officer Michael Leslie Krol was born on April 5, 1976, to Frank J. Krol. Jr. and Susan M. Ehlke. He passed away tragically while serving and protecting his community in Dallas, Texas, on July 7, 2016, at the age of 40 years.

Mike comes from a large extended family in Detroit, Michigan, who loved him very much. Mike grew up in Michigan and loved playing all sports, especially basketball where he excelled. He graduated from East Long Meadow High School in Massachusetts in 1994. He received his Criminal Justice Degree from Wayne County Community College in Detroit, Michigan, and worked at the Wayne County Jail from 2002 to 2007.

To realize his dream of becoming a police officer, Mike left his family and moved to Dallas in 2007 to attend the Police Academy. While this may seem a trivial detail of his life, it serves as an example of the decisions that Mike made to achieve his goal of serving others. We are so proud of our “Gentle Giant” and all that he stood for. Upon graduation, Mike went to work for the Dallas Police Department, where he served for nine years. Mike loved Dallas and the community he served.

Mike is remembered by family and friends as a loyal, honest and caring person—the type of man you meet and immediately love. Being an uncle and brother were the highlights of his life. He loved his family with his whole heart. He would drop anything to be with his family if they needed him. Mike was a “Big Guy with a Big Heart.” He was a dedicated law enforcement officer, who lived out the oath he swore to “serve and protect.”

Mike is survived by his mother, Susan Ehlke; his father, Frank Joseph Krol, Jr.; his sister, Heather Stacey (Brett); his brother, Joe Krol (Alexandria); his sister, Amie Schoenbaechler (Brian); and many loving family and friends. Our family will never be the same, Mike was our rock.
