Mikeal W Miller

Mike was born on August 27, 1985 in Lakeview to Renè Blair and Steven W. Miller. According to his mother, when he was 2, his favorite word was ‘No’, Pick up your toys. No. Let’s watch a video. No. Time to go to bed. No.

Everything was on Mike’s timetable.

Mike attended grades 3-8 in Lakeview. He went to South Albany High School where he graduated on June 3, 2003. Mikeal watched out for his younger brothers, Kurt and Chris, making sure they made friends and stayed out of trouble. He spent time with his mom, being a sounding board for her. And he made sure the family stayed together.

He enlisted under the delayed entry program when he was 17. He came home on leave and met Megan Erner, and the two fell in love. He returned after a year and his relationship with Megan blossomed. They made plans to spend their lives together and married in September 2006.

While serving in the Army, Mike received numerous commendations, including the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korea Defense Service Medal.

He also received the Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terror Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon and a Combat Infantryman’s Badge. He was promoted to Sergeant one week before passing away.

Mike is survived by his wife, Meg Miller; his mother; his father, Steve; and three brothers, stepfather; stepsister; stepbrother; maternal and paternal grandparents; a great-grandmother and numerous other family members and relatives.
