CPL Paweł Staniaszek was born on December 31, 1982 in Wrocław. He was appointed to the professional military service in 2008 as the driver of the water purification team in the 2nd Mazovian Brigade of Sappers in Kazuń Nowy. He intended to permanently tie his future to professional military service. CPL Paweł Staniaszek was a soldier of the sixth PKW shift in Afghanistan.


On October 9, 2009, in the province of Wardak in Afghanistan, an improvised explosive device exploded under one of the MRAPs. Two senior soldiers, Szymon Graczyk and senior, Radosław Szyszkiewicz, were killed on the spot. Seriously wounded, Paweł Staniaszek was transported to a field hospital in Ghazni, where he underwent surgery. Then he was treated in an American hospital.


CPL Staniaszek died on April 20, 2011 at the Military Institute of Medicine in Warsaw as a result of his wounds.

In 2010, the President of the Republic of Poland awarded him with the Star of Afghanistan and the Military Cross for bravery during combat operations. Paweł Staniaszek was posthumously promoted to Corporal.


CPL Paweł Staniasyek was a bachelor. Honor his memory!
