MAJ Raymond Gray Estelle II, U.S. Air Force, of Yorktown, VA, was born January 16, 1971.

MAJ Estelle was a native of New Haven, CT. He had resided in the Tampa and Brandon, FL area from 1999 to 2001. Both Major Estelle and his wife, LTCOL N’Keiba, loved the Tampa Bay area and planned for their family to reside there after retirement.

MAJ Estelle served 20 years with the Air Force and was devoted to his family, his community and his faith. He was known for his boundless enthusiasm, charisma and his support and mentoring of others, including in Bible studies that he led.

A cyberspace operations officer, MAJ Estelle was part of a NATO team that was training and advising the Afghan Air Force. MAJ Estelle was killed in action Wednesday, April 27, 2011, in Kabul, Afghanistan. He had been in Afghanistan for all of a day.

MAJ Estelle leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 10 years, LTCOL N’Keiba J. Estelle; 7-week-old son, Raymond G. Estelle III; daughter, Shayla J. Estelle, all of Yorktown, VA.; mother, Regina Estelle; sister, Nyiesha Estelle; a greatly loved and admired grandfather, Mr. Burton Gifford, all of New Haven; a father and mother-in-law, Levi and Lynn Knox of Valrico, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and close friends.
