Robert Dotzler a Navy Diver 3rd Class, age 24 died unexpectedly on June 19, 2013, as the result of a Naval diving accident in Guam.

Robert attended Lake Shore Technical College graduating from the welding program. He then went on to Commercial Dive and Salvage School in New Jersey. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2011 as a Navy Diver, completed Naval Divers Academy in Florida and was deployed to Guam. He loved spending time with his family and hanging out with his friends in Guam.

He was a parrot enthusiast, enjoyed hiking, fishing, swimming, bike riding and diving. It is diving where his true passion was. From the very first dive, he knew he had found himself. Diving was what he would always do.

Robert volunteered with the Special Olympics in Guam in order to work with children on their swimming skills. He wanted to give back to the community. He was recently nominated for the Command Advancement Program, which recognizes stellar Sailors through meritorious advancement in rank.

Robert Dotzler will be missed by countless cousins, family, friends, and shipmates.
