Thomas L. “Thom” Schmitt, 32, of Madison, formerly of Reeseville, was taken unexpectedly to his heavenly home on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, as the result of a work-related accident.

Thomas Lee Schmitt was born on Oct. 18, 1977, to John and Sandra (Schultz) Schmitt in Beaver Dam. He was a 1996 graduate of Waterloo High School. Thom enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1997 and served one tour of duty in Iraq from 2004 to 2005. He was promoted to sergeant on April 1, 2005. Thom also started his own business, All Clean Windows, that year. He was looking forward to his business becoming a franchise in the near future. Thom was an athletic man, playing basketball, golf and football. He was also an avid Packer fan. He had recently purchased his first Harley-Davidson and was enjoying life’s ride. Thom loved his family very much and especially loved his nephews and niece. He was an honorary member of the Lowell VFW Post No. 9392.

Thom will be deeply missed by his parents, John and Sandy Schmitt, of Reeseville; sisters, Angie (Jon) Christenson of Reeseville and Stephanie Schmitt of Madison; his maternal grandparents, Kenneth (Joanne) Schultz, of Lowell; paternal grandmother, Yvonne (George) Strohbusch, of Beaver Dam; nephews and niece, Jeremiah, Jackson, Jenna and Jesse; aunts and uncles, Bonnie and Ken Guenther, Sue and Jerry Ebert, Nancy Hussli, Roy and Christine Schmitt, Frieda and Bill Kern, Cindy and Mike Kadinger, Marilea and Pat Groves, Gina and Andy Oemig, Leon and Annette Schmitt, Greg and Jenine Schultz, and Rhonda and Gwenn Soldner; cousins, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Leon J. Schmitt Sr.
