Travis K Hunsberger

Travis Kent Hunsberger was born on February 4, 1984, in Elkhart, Indiana to Steve E. and Rhonda K. (Bemiller) Hunsberger.

Travis was a native of Goshen, Ind. He was a 2002 graduate of North Wood High School, where he played soccer and wrestled. He attended Ball State University.

He volunteered for the Army in 2004 as a Special Forces candidate. In 2006, he earned the “Green Beret.” Travis’ military education included the Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, the Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape Course, Basic Airborne Course, Warrior Leaders Course and Special Forces Qualification Course. He really loved serving in the military even though he knew the risks involved in it, and said “This is what brings the greatest happiness and greatest joy”.

He was fully committed to his family, his friends and his career. On February 10, 2007, he married Hannah Govan.

He is survived by his wife Hannah Hunsberger. Also surviving are his parents, Steve and Ronda Hunsberger; brother, Kyle Hunsberger; sister, Kelsey Hunsberger; grandparents, Kenneth and Ruth Bemiller and Kelly and Deanie Hunsberger.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal with “V” Device, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Services Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge and the Special Forces Tab.
