Army Specialist Ronald Gebur was a superhero who chose to use his strength for good. He warmed people’s hearts and had this light in his eyes, his sister, Camille Gebur, wrote. He was a one-of-a-kind friend with a big heart, dependable and stood up for what he believed in, his best friend, Court Houston added.
Brandon Marmion, a friend said that he will remember Ron’s permanent smile and unselfish demeanor. “He’s someone you could count on.”
In 2008, third-graders at Prairieland Elementary School, Normal, IL. have an idea of what Army personnel experience in Iraq thanks to the instruction of Ronald’s wife, Bethany Gebur and local Army recruiters.
In addition, students know how to properly fold a flag and what prepackaged Army meals taste like. “They are very engaged,” explained Bethany, an Army Sergeant and student teacher from Illinois State University who helped arrange this visit to offer students a lesson about military values. Ronald Gebur’s was killed in Iraq in 2006. Bethany says “… this is about all soldiers,” pointing to a display that included his army helmets, an honor flag and his photo.
Bethany Gebur is teaching lessons about military life and serving selflessly in the Army and her community. She is also raising her young son and will be a teacher.
