Corporal Andrew Ryan White, Marine Corps veteran, of Cross Lanes passed away Feb. 12, 2008.
Andrew was born Jan. 1, 1985, in Charleston. He was a graduate of Capital High School; member of the Honor Society, baseball team and ROTC program where he earned many honors. Andrew was an Eagle Scout and a member of Troop 77, Cross Lanes. While in high school, he worked as a counselor at the Buckskin Scout Reservation for several summers. He served as a Corporal with Co A, 4th CEB, 4th MARDIV, U.S. Marines, Cross Lanes, WV (2003-2008). He served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, January 2005 to September 2005. He loved serving his country and was proud to be a Marine.
Andrew enjoyed skiing, fishing, golfing, scuba diving and the warm sunshine.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Elsie Persinger and Frank White; uncle, John A. Persinger Jr.; and brother, SSGT Robert White, U.S. Army (Kia, Afghanistan).
Andrew is survived by his parents, Stan and Shirley White of Cross Lanes; grandmother, Eva White; brother, Chief Petty Officer William H. White Jr., U.S. Navy, Hampton, Va.; sisters, Christina White at home and Phyllis White Sellards of Huntington; sister-in- law, Cathy White of Hope Mills, N.C.; nephew, Zachary White of Hope Mills, N.C.; nieces, Shelby and Madison White of Cross Lanes; uncles, James Persinger, David White and Bill White; aunts, Darlene White, Peggy Persinger Workman and Jannette Shamblen; and cousins, Janelle Loughry, Elizabeth Persinger, Daniel Persinger, Matthew Persinger, Bryan White and Todd White.
