Sergeant Jeremy Enlow Murray was born on February 5, 1978 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. When he was growing up, he talked constantly about wanting to join the military. Jeremy joined the Army in 1996 after graduating from Waterloo High School in Atwater Township. He spent so much time preparing for the military that when he got to boot camp, he could break down a rifle faster than his superiors. He was also an avid hunter.


After fulfilling his commitment to the Army, he returned home to a civilian job before deciding to enlist in the Marines. He felt that was where he was supposed to be and planned on retiring as a Marine. He was on his third deployment in Iraq when he hit an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operatios.


He died at the age of 27 and was buried with full military honors. Jeremy is survived by his wife Megan; son Ian; his parents Pam and Harold Murray; a sister Lisa; and a grandfather, Enlow W. Murray.
