My name is Samantha Cook. My late husband was Michael Benjamin Cook Jr. He was KIA in Iraq on June 6th, his birthday. We have an 8 year girl named Hailee and a 3 year old son named Michael III.
Mike was the type of man who would do anything for his family or friends. He is an amazing man. He was really into super heros and his favorite was Captain America. In his tribute to him that one of his friends wrote was that Mike was the real Captain America. The proudest moment in his life was when we got married and our children were born. We have known each other since the third grade, dated in 6th grade, lost touch for 6 years then senior year in high school got back in touch and talked everyday and were together from then on. We were married on 12-27-03 and have had a wonderful life since then.
Michael joined the Army in 2009 because he wanted to make a better life for myself and our children and he wanted to make the world a better place. He worked hard and cared so much about his job. The minute he joined the army he found himself and was a very proud man. I love and miss him everyday.
I’m in the process of buying the house me and Mike wanted to buy when he got home and I’m turning the front room into his room with his flag and awards. This portrait will make a great addition to the room. Thank you so much for doing these drawings. I really appreciate it.
