Michael J Mcmahon

WEST HARTFORD, CT, USA U.S. Army LTC, HHT, 3D SQDN, 4TH CAVALRY REGIMENT, 25TH INF DIV, SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, HI BAMIAN, AFGHANISTAN 11/27/2004

Michael J. McMahon was born in Kentucky October 22, 1963, to his mother Elizabeth Cook McMahon and Dennis R.

McMahon. He was raised in Hartford, Connecticut.

Even though Mike earned a Bronze Star and Purple Heart in combat operations, he was making an even bigger impact through his example of humanity to his soldiers and more importantly, to the Afghanis in his area of operations. Mike went beyond putting his life on the line: he used his life to help others understand and enjoy the fruits of liberty that we often take for granted.

Nora Boyer, one of McMahon’s sisters, told the Courant in a phone interview from her home in New Jersey that the family learned of his disappearance on Saturday.

“Between him and me it was always, ‘Mike, are you having the time of your life?”‘ she said.

“And he’d be saying, ‘Yep, Nora, I’m having the time of my life.”‘

“He was a man who loved his troops and would take care of them,” Boyer said.

He is survived by his wife, LTC. Jeanette McMahon; sons, Michael Jr., Thomas M., and Dennis IV. his dad, LTC. Dennis R. McMahon Ret., and wife, Dr. Melanie Crandall McMahon; sisters Lezle McMahon Harris with husband Jon, Nora McMahon Boyer with husband Daniel, Kelly McMahon Cook with husband Dave, and Stacie McMahon Ferry with husband LTC. Michael Ferry.
