MANCHESTER, NH, USA U.S. Marines CPL, 3D BN 8TH MAR, (GCE SPMAGTF-AFGHANISTAN), 2D MAR DIV, CAMP LEJEUNE, NC BASTION, AFGHANISTAN 03/22/2009
Marine Corporal Michael Oullette was from Manchester, New Hampshire. He graduated from Meorial High School in 1999 and also studied at the Manchester School of Technology. In 2005, Michael joined the Marine Corps. He was awarded multiple military awards for his three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Michael is best remembered as an all around stand-up guy with a wonderful smile. He was driven, determined, and incredibly giving. His fellow Marines remembered him as articulate, helpful, and good at judging how to handle a situation. He looked out for Marines that were his junior, wanting to make sure they had good experiences and were taken care of. He was a natural leader.
He loved to wrestle with the neighborhood kids. He also loved to cook-he went to culinary school in California after graduating. But Michael loved his country and felt it was important to be part of something; he found his calling to serve in the military when Hurricane Katrina hit when he was in New Orleans.
Michael was, and always will be, a role model.
