TWO RIVERS, WI, USA U.S. Army SPC, COMPANY B, 1ST BATTALION, 66TH ARMOR, 1 BCT, FORT HOOD, TX TAJI, IRAQ 08/27/2006
Army Specialist Shaun Novak was born in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. He had one younger brother, Danny. Shaun attended college for a year before deciding to postpone his educational career to join the U.S. Army. His decision to enlist was also a decision to follow in the footsteps of Shaun’s own hero, his grandfather, a veteran of the Korean War.
Shaun was fun-loving, enjoying basketball and video games. Shaun loved bonfires, talking about and watching the Brewers, and dinners. His girlfriend spent time with Shaun at Fort Hood, Texas, providing cherished memories. He loved his family,
and is remembered above all, as a true friend. He was excited for his future, of returning to school, owning a business, and marrying.
Shaun never liked attention, as was extremely humble about his service. He called himself “just a normal guy doing my job”.
His humility was highly admired, and at his funeral service, his friends and family knew that he would have been extremely embarrassed by all the attention he was receiving.
Awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star, Army Specialist Novak touched everyone whom he met with his charming nature and large smile. Shaun was not a normal guy, he was an extraordinary one.
